The city is characterized as a major center rendering a variety of services and considered as administrative and service center. The beneficiaries of these services originate not only from within the district but from the entire Sindh province. It is performing high order functions in health and education sectors and has a significant number of institutions which make the city an important one for its neighboring cities, districts and talukas. It also has many recreational spaces but are ill maintained.
